MobileMonday Rio partners with GSMA in first-ever Mobile 360 event in Latin America


MobileMonday Rio will be one of GSMA’s partners for the first Mobile 360 event in Latin America in Rio de Janeiro (13-14 May). Digital Identity, 4G, M2M, Digital Inclusion and Mobile Financial Services will be among the topics discussed during the conference.

With 326 million unique subscribers and more than 90 mobile operators, Latin America mobile market is now the fourth-largest globally. The region is also expected to be the second-highest installed base of smartphones in the world, with 245 million 4G mobile connections by 2020.

In 2015, the GSMA will host five Mobile 360 Series events around the world: Mobile 360 Series-Africa, Mobile 360 Series-Europe, Mobile 360 Series-Latin America, Mobile 360 Series-Middle East and Mobile 360 Series-North America. The GSMA is also in charge of the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Brazil authorizes companies to charge for an extra pay-TV access

splash-tv-brasilThe Consumer Defense Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that authorized charging for an additional access in the pay-TV market. The installation fee for each extra access shall not exceed 20% of the main access point installation cost, while the maximum monthly fee shall not exceed 5% of a single TV access point service cost.

In 2015, Latin American investors Kaszek Ventures invested in two startups founded and run by Brazilian women: Dress & Go allows women anywhere in Brazil to rent clothes, primarily dresses, by top Brazilian and international brands, and Love Mondays, an employer review site dedicated to helping Brazilians forge their career paths.
